Doojin Hwang AIA, KIA, APEC

Doojin Hwang was born in Seoul in 1963. Language, history, and physics fascinated him,
but soon he found more interest in creative activities and this led him to study architecture at Seoul National University. After earning his M. Arch. from Yale School of Architecture in 1993, he worked for Tai Soo Kim Partners in Hartford, USA as well as its Seoul office for more than seven years. From June 2000 on, he has been running his own firm, Doojin Hwang Architects. While working actively as a practicing architect, Doojin has written several books including 'Where Is Your Seoul?"(2005) and "Hanok Is Back(2006)' and taught at the Graduate School of Architecture, Kyonggi University and Ewha Womans University.
With substantial credits in both Western and Korean style building projects, he seeks to combine two different architectural heritages in a contemporary way. Consequently,
Hanok, traditional Korean housing, occupies an important part of his portfolio. At his leisure, he enjoys reading legal thrillers, gardening, and walking around Seoul's historic areas.
